The Provincial Government of Negros Oriental is sending a delegation of tourism officers to attend the28th Edition of the Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) in Manila highlighting tour offerings in the country twinned with the ASEAN destinations with expansion to China, Japan and Korea.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) in Region 7 disclosed that the Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) is the biggest travel trade exhibition in the promotion and marketing of domestic and inbound tourism in the country.
Negros Oriental Governor Roel Ragay Degamo believes in the potential of the tourism industry as possible providers of livelihood and income opportunities for the people, a major part of his efforts to boost economic development in this part of the country. “That’s why we invite the private sector, especially the travel and tour operators in this important opportunity,” Gov. Degamo added.
Expected to join the national travel mart are members of the Association of Travel and Tours In Negros Oriental (ATTIN) and Negros Oriental Association Travel and Tours Agencies (NOATTA), the prime stakeholders in the tourism market growth in Negros Oriental.
What makes the event more significant is that the 28th PTM exhibition is being tied up to the celebration of the 50th Founding Anniversary of the ASEAN which the Philippines is the host country.
Senior Tourism Operations Officer Myla Mae Bromo-Abellana said the PTM organized by the Philippine Tours Operators Association (PHILTOA) has long been the primary venue for promoting tourism destinations, tourism products and services. “There are also meetings with international and domestic tour buyers,” she said.
She has invited tourism officers of the different local government units (LGUs) to join the provincial delegation to promote their tourist destinations in the national and international market. “We have represented Negros Oriental in several of the PTM expositions, in a sustained effort to keep our Province in the industry picture as an attractive tourism destination.”
The DOT assured that this year’s staging of the PTM will offer more business opportunities to exhibitors and generate more interest to the visiting public, including foreign tourists and investors. Aptly dubbed the 50 shades of FUN with highlight tour offerings of the Philippines twinned with the ASEAN destinations, with a bonus tourist promotions and opening in China, Japan and Korea promoting seamless intraregional travel, the DOT said.
The PTM aims to increase the product and market base of the event making it bigger, more colourful and definitely exciting captured in this year’s theme: “50 Shades of FUN at Visit ASEAN @50.” The PTM will be held at SMX Convention Center, Seashell Lane, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, Philippines on September 1-3, 2017.
